A young woman with dreams of success in the fashion industry and a certain
knack for style, finds herself in the house of Poncho Ramirez, a designer who
isn't really sure where his next hit will come from -- his padded cups for men's
underwear are apparently a flop. With Katie MacNicol, David Thornton, Saundra
Santiago, Jerry Grayson and Juan Hernandez. Directed by Michele Maher. (1:27)
SEX/NUDITY 5 - We see men wearing underwear with a padded, enlarged crotch;
we see them on billboards (the tag line is "criminally large") and on
mannequins. A man removes his pants in a roomful of people who look and point at his
underwear, which have an enlarged, padded crotch. A man caresses the enlarged
crotch of a mannequin. A man and a woman kiss a few times. A man begins to take
his shirt off in front of another man and they flirt. A woman caresses a man's
hair and hugs him. A young woman says "peel of my Ponchos" (a pair of jeans)
several times in a television ad, and a teenage girl says the same thing in
front of a mirror. People discuss advertising campaigns and suggest having women
together, men together, kiddie porn, and molestation. In a TV ad boys are
shown in their underwear in a locker room and a man touches one on the back with
a horse whip, in a suggestive way. A woman flirts with a man and men admire
women walking on a runway in a fashion show. Women wear short tops that reveal
bare abdomens and opaque tank tops that show their nipples. Women wear low-cut
tops that reveal cleavage. A man makes a remark about "doing" a woman (he
seems to mean doing her hair).
VIOLENCE/GORE 4 - A woman steps off a curb and is hit by a bus or truck (we
do not see the aftermath). A woman slaps a man in the face. We see a woman tied
to a chair with plastic wrap and gagged. A woman screams and pounds on a
punching bag with a baseball bat, and a man hits a punching bag with a baseball
bat repeatedly. A man yells at and confronts a man. A woman struggles with
another woman over jeans in a store; they tug back and forth on the pants and yell
at each other. A woman runs into a man and knocks him to the floor. Two women
argue. A woman is knocked down and we see her with a slightly bloody, swollen
lip. A woman is startled when a man touches her from behind.
PROFANITY 9 - 48 F-words, 6 sexual references, 7 scatological terms, 5
anatomical terms, 7 mild obscenities, 2 derogatory terms for homosexuals, 1
religious profanity, 9 religious exclamations.
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Fashion, the fashion industry, fraud, greed, fads, porn,
rape, molestation, shock value and advertising, homosexuality, NY nightlife,
IPOs, the stock market, drug dealing.
MESSAGE - The key to happiness for some people is indeed money. The fashion
industry is basically amoral.
(Note: People are shown drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes.)
